Jaime Thraves

Post production/activities

  • Made short films at University
  • Used award winning short film as a 'Calling Card' to get a foot in the door with the video production company Factory Films
  • Began by shooting three very low budget music videos which cost about £5000 each
The process of choosing ad making a music
  • A commisioner from a record company label sends a track to 5-10 directors
  • The directors then each submit a treatment
  • This Stage is unpaid
  • The Director who has submitted the best treatment is then commisioned to make the video and only then is the director paid
As can be seen for many directors in the business it is a precarious existence where their livelihood is dependent on each commision
Jaime Thraves submitted treatments for his two best known videos and each was accepted.

1. Radiohead - Just
  • £100,000 budget
  • Shot in three days
2. Coldplay - The Scientist
  • £200,000 Budget
  • Shot in three days
Jaime Thraves - most recent video- Japanese pop stars Song of Lisa
  • Currently videos cost about £20,000
  • Shooting time - 2 days
  • Jaime has used the music videos to get into the film business
  • Has so far shot three features
  • The Low Down
  • The Cry Of The Owl
  • Treade Jr
Jaimes Tips
  • Use the lyrics but try not to be literal
  • Most importantly - Go with the emotion of the lyrics.

The Music for our Video

Music Lyrics for My Two Left Feet

You look so good when you're dancing
I watch you spill your drink on the tops of your shoes
You look so good when you're dancing
Can I have this dance with you for the rest of my life

All your crooked teeth
Make a perfect smile
I'd buy a wall full of clocks
If it would stop time for awhile
I love to watch your mouth
Move with the words of the songs
And I don't care
If they're right or wrong

You look so good when you're dancing
I watch you spill your drink on the tops of your shoes
You look so good when you're dancing
Can I have this dance with you for the rest of my life

Love is like water
Shaped from the shores that it meets
Your delicate fingers
And my two left feet
Me in my stiff Sunday clothes
Pressed starched pants
We'll keep the light at our backs
And watch our shadows hold hands
Please hold my hand

Because you look so good when your dancing
I watch you spill your drink on the tops of your shoes
You look so good when your dancing
Can I have this dance with you for the rest of my life
Can I have this dance with you
Can I have this dance with you
For the rest of my life
